Herdade do Escrivão is a brand of organic products with over 20 years' experience having pioneered organic certified products in the region. The company was born out of a business on a family property over 80 years ago. Herdade do Escrivão is closely committed to major environmental and social concerns, as well as promoting regional
gastronomy. All the livestock management is based on traditional, non-intensive farming, using indigenous breeds such as the Charnequeira goat and the Merino from Beira Baixa. Herdade do Escrivão is Geoproduct from Naturtejo UGGp since 2017.

Herdade do Escrivão's wine is certified Organic and was one of the first to be certified as a DOC BIO (Beira Interior Organic Controlled Designation of Origin). The Herdade do Escrivão vineyard is located in Tinalhas, a region of Castelo Branco (Portugal) where "tinalia" (tina, small vat, vat) was mentioned as early as 1228. Wine production was already important there, with wines with a high alcohol content in a typical Mediterranean culture. Granite vats, like the ones that still exist on the property today, were used to produce the wine.

The vineyards are located on schist soils and sandy soils with good exposure to the south, which determines the quality of the wine. They were planted in 2001 and are made up of grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional, Trincadeira and Tinta Roriz. The harvest is done by hand so that each bunch of grapes is picked with care and reverence, turning tradition into a ritual that honours the art of cultivating exceptional wines.

Alcoholic fermentation is carefully controlled in a vat at 25º C, while malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by a 12-month ageing period. The result is a wine of excellent quality, standing out for its distinctive and
intense aromas, with a remarkable strong garnet-coloured structure. Its aroma is characterised by the marked presence of red fruits such as cherries, plums and forest fruits, including blackberries. The soft tannins give it a velvety sensation, providing a pleasant, lingering finish.
The quinta  agricultural tradition reflects its unwavering commitment to organic production. Every corner, from the vineyards to the olive groves, is certified, ensuring that the production method is in harmony with nature. As well as wine grapes, olives are grown and harvested with the same care, offering everything from tinned food to the purest olive oil of exceptional quality. The olive trees, rooted in the rich tradition of Beira Baixa, are treated like jewels of nature. Each olive is harvested by hand, preserving its quality and authentic flavour. This meticulous care is evident not only in the preserves, but also in the purest olive oil extracted, a golden liquid that carries withit the terroir; and passion of Herdade do Escrivão.
