The Company

Rui Jorge & Nuno Luís, Lda is a family business owned by two brothers, Nuno Martins and Rui Martins. It all started in 2016, when we acquired 30 swarms and we have been growing steadily. In the year 2021 we launched the brand “Alto das Urgas”. We are producers of honey obtained naturally, with the aim of preserving all its properties and being able to offer our customers an exclusive product. The honey is extracted and packed in a honey mill licensed by the DGAV (Direção-Geral de Alimentação e Veterinária).

The product 

Honey is a natural source of carbohydrates and other nutrients such as proteins, vitamins (Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin and Vitamin B6) and minerals (sodium, potassium, phosphorus, magnesium and zinc). Honey is not recommended in the diet of children under the age of 1 year. The antibiotic and antiseptic properties of honey make it very effective in relieving sore throat. Honey also helps prevent the growth of micro-organisms that cause pain and inflammation. As it is rich in phytonutrients and as it has antibacterial and antiviral properties, honey is a food that can help boost the immune system, i.e. it strengthens the body’s defences. There is a wide variety of honeys, multifloral and monofloral. They have different colours, aromas and flavours depending on their floral origin.
