Heikki and Sofia Latvajärvi opened the Meggala winery shop in early summer 2020. As lovers of good wine, food, and celebrations, Heikki and Sofia studied wine production and alcohol manufacturing. Driven by their passion for professional wine production and using local, aromatic, and pure fruits and berries, today they produce high-quality, aromatic, and delicious fruit wines in the heart of the Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark, in the village of Venesjärvi, Kankaanpää.In the handcrafted Hunaja Humina – honey apple cider, the freshness of local apples from Satakunta combines with the softness of honey collected by bees from the Meggala apple orchard.
The products
The nutrient-rich soils of the Lauhanvuori-Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark area, favorable for the cultivation of fruits and berries, trace their origins back to the last ice age. The continental glacier ground the rugger granite bedrock into fine-grained material, which slowly releases nutrients for plant use. In Hunaja Humina, you can taste the local character and the natural sweetness.
