The restaurant
Anno 1700 The half-timbered house at Inselsbergstrasse 83 in Bad Tabarz has been owned by the Jung family again for a good 10 years now; previously under the name “Romantik Schenke” it was one of the top culinary addresses in Thuringia from the mid-90s to the early 2000s. Time brings change and innovation, and how can a small restaurant with 28 seats be successfully integrated into Thuringia’s gastronomic landscape today? A new concept had to be developed. Under the name “Anno 1700”, the small restaurant now hides much more than the year the house in which it is located was built. The philosophy is “contemporary | limitless | enjoy”. The culinary craft and the innovative power of the kitchen lie in merging home and world. We offer our guests cuisine with predominantly regional, nature-oriented, seasonal influences to show you how good Thuringia can taste. From vegetables to meat and fish, from wine to beer, we now bring together a local network of several suppliers from the UNESCO Global Geopark Thuringia Inselsberg-Drei Gleichen area and from other part of the Thuringia region – that’s how regionality works for us. The geological terrain on which the raw products thrive is as diverse as the dishes: the cattle graze on shell limestone, the salmon trout swim in ponds in the red sandstone and the deer roam through forests rooted in Permian volcanics. Vegetables also grow and have roots in these same geological formations. In this way, geological and culinary diversity come together on one plate and in the guest’s palate. With various series of events, we underline our concept and its connection to the region and our town of Bad Tabarz. We constantly offer our target group new culinary experiences on our safari through Thuringia.
