La Cura Farm
La Cura is a dynamic, family-owned wine company produces 30,000 bottles of organic wine annually: the 56 acres of vineyards produce Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Ansonica, Vermentino, Malvasia, Trebbiano, and Chardonnay grapes.
The vineyard’s flagship wine is Merlot, which it first produced in 2001: this wine immediately distinguished itself and won the title “Best Merlot of Italy” in an Italian Merlot competition in 2010. More recently, Vedetta, a Cabernet Sauvignon-Cabernet Franc blend produced only in years offering favorable conditions, debuted in the latest edition of Vinitaly.
La Cura developed its ecological approach to working the soil and vineyards in close cooperation with its scientific and technical partner, the University of Pisa.
The winery has taken the innovative step of adding Braille to its labels: the QR code provides audio information on the company and the characteristics of the wine.
La Cura is not limited to wine production; additional acreage produces fruit and grain, a tribute to the estate’s former focus. La Cura compensate its emission within a system of renewable clean electricity, in fact its activities are powered with a 1 MW photovoltaic system.
La Cura Wines
The Abbondanza wine trilogy is made of three wines: *Andrea dell’Abbondanza – Bianco Maremma Toscana DOC Organic Vermentino; *Dante dell’Abbondanza – Organic Rosso Maremma Toscana DOC and *Pia dell’Abbondanza – Rosato – Organic -Protected Geographical Indication (IGT).
The Abbondanza wine trilogy is inspired by the Tree of Fertility fresco at the Fonte dell Abbondanza in Massa Marittima. The fresco, rich in the symbolism of fertility, dates from 1265. These wines share the vital strength and richness of Maremma’s flavors and are proof of the fertility of the land where the grapes are produced.
