Restaurant Niinipuu offers local Finnish flavors in the footsteps of the early 19th century Saimaa archipelago life. The restaurant, built in a stone barn in Niinisaari, in the courtyard of the Okkola farm, warmly welcomes you! In the restaurant, you can taste our local delicacies, enjoy cold drinks or pamper yourself by dining in our idyllic courtyard. The fish, berries and mushrooms are all local food from the post-glacial ridges of Puumala and the clean, labyrinthine waters of Lake Saimaa.
Every day we offer fresh vendace, fried in rye flour and butter. The vendace is caught here in Puumala, in the clean waters of Lake Saimaa, and is delivered to us by local fisherman Antti. The vendace is served with mashed potatoes, for that we go and pick up the potatoes ourselves directly from our local farmer Heikki. He growing potatoes in nutrient-rich soils amidst ice age ridges. The dish is topped off with freshly baked local bread, from our restaurant to the guest!
